The first game on the 2010 World Cup ended without a winner. The result of the match between the hosts - South Africa, and Mexico was 1-1.

The first half passed without goals, although the players of Mexico had more opportunities for scoring, and played better than hosts.

However, in the second half the players of South Africa woke up and created several opportunities for goal. From one of them, Siphiwe Tshabalala scored a goal in 55th minute of the game and so South Africa led over Mexico.

In 79th minute of the match Rafael Márquez scored the goal that tied the result to 1-1.

Until the end of the match there were more good chances for a goal for both teams, but the result remained the same.
